Armstrong Relocation

Great company with even better people. They are first class & get the job done. So glad we utilized their expertise & experience. I would recommend them to everyone thinking about a move, no doubt. If I ever decide to move in the future they will be the ones in charge of my belongings for sure.

Armstrong Relocation Itasca Move.

The president came to our house in 9/10 and wrote the move for us to leave a large house and send half the contents to storage and half to a rental property. Two years later when we were moving his counterpart came to our house to plan the next move. He wouldn't leave our house without making sure we paid for extra insurance on the move. He said without it we would be underinsured. We moved 12/12. Problem is the extra insurance only covered the contents coming from the rental not what was originally put in storage. So the $1,800 table that was split in half was covered at a rate of .30 cents per pound. The superintendant in this move showed us paperwork where it was damaged going into storage and the movers had failed (he said purposely) to have us sign the paperwork. Getting a response from this company was like pulling teeth. My husband had to go to the office to find the president to get any response. Did I mention instead of the two trucks we were expecting they sent one, stuffed it and the move took 13 hours. Tired movers left heavy objects in our garage that we had to move ourselves. Eventually the company offered us a small check. Would I recommend this company? Never.

Long-distance move from Virginia to Kentucky

A Marvelous Stress-Free Move.

I have had the most marvelous experience with Mayflower Moving Company moving my possessions from a storage unit in Virginia to a storage unit in Kentucky. It should be noted that this review is in regard to the service I received from Mayflower’s authorized agency at Armstrong Relocation and Companies in Knoxville, Tennessee. It should also be noted that Mayflower was purchased by United Van Lines in the 1990s, so trucks with both logos are used.

I spent several stress-filled weeks researching moving companies and ended up very confused and apprehensive when it came to making a final decision. I read many horror stories about botched moves with possessions lost, stolen, and destroyed, sub-contracting with unfamiliar trucking companies, and belligerent and abusive drivers showing up to load property to be moved and bullying customers into forking over more money than had been agreed upon or estimated. That possibility was unacceptable to me especially since I was at the destination, and my things were in a storage unit near my 87-year-old father’s home. I didn’t want him or his friends accosted by a nasty driver and crew. I also didn’t want any surprises with the cost of my move.

My family had an happy experience with Mayflower Movers when I was 8 years old. With that in mind I decided to check with them. From my very first contact with the representative assigned to me I was put at ease. She explained to me that United Van Lines had purchased Mayflower before the millennium. She also told me that it was strictly against their policy to sub-contract moves and that they were not moving “brokers.” They were authorized agents of United/Mayflower Movers and would always use those trucks and their own people to move possessions for customers.

She then settled my last concern by telling me that she would personally visit my storage unit to do a visual inventory and then determine a “binding” cost for my move…no surprises. I provided her with my best recollection of the inventory which I had not seen for more than a year, so she could give me an estimate based on that to see if I wanted to have her actually visit there to do an accurate inventory and then price my move. The estimate was acceptable, and she traveled many miles and spent a lot of time going there to meet Daddy’s friend and accomplish that.

The price she came up with was more than the estimates I got from the other companies I investigated. However, theirs were only estimates based on what I could remember that I had in there, and they were not willing to spend time doing a visual inventory. Mayflower’s price also included full insurance to protect my things from loss or damage and not just the basic liability that only pays a few cents per pound of whatever is lost or damaged and not the true value of that item. My representative did not at any time pressure me into using their service, but she did caution me that if I chose someone else, I should never choose someone who would require advance payment or even a deposit before picking my shipment up. At that point I had confidence that their service was worth the extra cost without worrying that unknown costs would be tacked on later. My card was not charged until my things were packed up and on the way.

The crews dispatched on both ends were wonderful people. The truck used was a United Van Lines truck. The crew that picked up my shipment in Virginia made careful notations about the condition of everything they packed up. An inventory sheet was used with each thing being assigned a number. When the 2nd crew arrived with my things in Kentucky I was given the inventory sheet to check things off as they unloaded and carefully stacked and arranged everything for me in the unit here. They separated things out that I asked for, and everything arrived in what looks to be the same condition it left Virginia. I have been told by the supervisor who took over my move after my original representative got me squared away with the inventory and price that I have 9 months from the date of delivery to unpack and check everything to be sure there is nothing missing and that there is no hidden damage. If there is, she will help me file a claim. The supervisor checked with me before the crew arrived in Virginia, answered all questions I sent to her by e-mail, and then called me again before the crew arrived here and then again after they left to be sure that everything had gone smoothly. I feel very well cared for by this company and will not hesitate to use them again if I ever need to move in the future.

Broken table claim.

One item was broken, the only peice I did not pack mover said "not necessary"
Claims sent a person and after contacting them they offered me a minimal amount? It's not the amount it's the unprofessional way they responded! I took the glass to be replaced today and for a few dollars more they could have had all my business and friends! Stupid, for this I give them a D-.

Long-distance move from Houston, TX to Sparks, NV

No rights as a consumer!!??

United Van Lines/ Armstrong relocation packed up our furniture on 6/13/17 in Houston TX. We arrived in Nevada and were SUPPOSED to have our furniture delivered on 6/21-6/27. It is now JULY 7th and we JUST got the word our furniture would NOT be delivered until MAYBE 7/21..a full MONTH past our delivery window of 6/21. I cannot express in words how difficult it is with a bad back to sleep on a blow-up mattress, do without the simple things in life like a table, chairs, refrigerator or clothes for a full month!! WARNING: I was told by my lawyer that we as consumers have NO LEGAL RECOURSE except to "file a complaint" with the Motor Carrier Association.
I WOULD NEVER USE UNITED OR THEIR LOCAL AGENT ARMSTRONG RELOCATION!!

Long-distance move from Washington to Texas

Mike and his group are the best.

They arrived as soon as they could after I called to tell them the shipping containers had been delivered early. They were fast, efficient and well prepared to load my belongs into the shipping containers. If you are in doubt about hiring someone, I would hire them again and again. They are well over the 5 star rating here.
While they did not move me as I was moving from Washington State to Texas, they were able to fit everything I had into 2 moving containers.

Long-distance move from Iowa to North Carolina

Stress-free relocation!

I worked with Erin Skinner at Armstrong Relocation to move my home furnishings from Iowa to North Carolina. So sweet to work with, Erin was there along the way to check-in and make sure I didn't have any worries. A crew came to my house and packed my things in boxes. The lead gentleman took his job very seriously and was meticulous in packing every single item with care. The truck arrived at my new home in Charlotte on time according to the schedule I was originally provided. Packing and unpacking, the crews put down cardboard as to not ruin my carpet. Everything was delivered with care and the three gentlemen even helped me put together some of my furniture.

I cannot believe how easily my relocation went. It was easy and I didn't stress. Erin made sure I had all the information I needed at all times and called to check-in frequently. If I am ever in a situation to relocate again, I will certainly be using Armstrong Relation to get me there!

I did not have any damaged items in the process!

Armstrong move.

This was by far the best move we have ever had - from Gary and Jessica at Armstrong. The team that came to pack things up did an excellent job and worked fast and were very efficient- they didn't try to skimp on boxes or packing. Then the 5 guys who worked tirelessly for 14 hour days to load the truck - THEY WERE EXCELLENT, they always had a great attitude. On top of all this, they delivered the two trucks full of furniture AHEAD of delivery date. I'd recommend them to anyone as they exceeded our expectations and quite frankly that is hard to do as we have high standards.

Movers BEWARE!!

Armstrong Relocation out of San Antonio, TX runs a dishonest operation and their President could care less. Armstrong Relocation will low-ball your moving quote, promise you an unrealistic receipt date, deliver your goods late and then ignore you if you reach out about an issue.

Their employees will treat you well before you hire them, but once they sell you that’s where the “customer comes first” attitude ends.

FYI: Each pod they use is 300 cubic ft. At approximately 305 cubic feet, the shipping container can hold up to 2,500 lbs. That is a shipping container standard.

Know the shipping standards before hiring a moving company especially Armstrong Relocation in San Antonio.

As the consumer, protect yourself from being swindled by this company and ask they provide you with substantial proof that your goods were shipped in the number of containers they charge you for.

You won’t know if you “owe” them more than your original quote until 30 days AFTER your move too. Interesting how that works out.

Armstrong Relocation in San Antonio, TX will OVERCHARGE you and refuse to provide any evidence of your shipment. Give your business to an honest company who cares about their customers.
